Mayfair turns Pink for Breast Cancer !

FORMER APPRENTICE STAR TURNS AUCTIONEER AS MAYFAIR WENT PINK TO RAISE FUNDS FOR BREAST CANCER!

Star of the Apprentice Raef Bjayou held the charity auction at Molton House , West End club to help raise funds for Cancer Research UK.
The event was taking place on 10 of June 2010

Along with other donation a printed copy of ”Embrace” painting from Spirit of romance series painted  by Magdalena  Rutkowska went under the auctioneer hammer. Picture was bought by Former Drifter Singer Jahson (aka Jason Leigh)
Event organisers Chinara Enterprises Ltd in association with Cancer Research UK successfully held a Pink Fashion infused evening with an Exclusive Fashion Show from Fashion Designer DK Darlington and with models supplied by Strike Model Management
Guests have been be treated to a Pink Champagne and Pink themed canapés sponsored by ASAP Assistance Ltd as well as entertainment from Singer Jahson and Classical Pianist Paul Good – along with other surprises.
Generous support has been given from Beverley knight who is a contributory sponsor for the Auction.
This was a most spectacular affair, and a great way to raise funds for Breast Cancer.

Picturing Frederic Chopin Portrait Prize

Celebrating 200 years of Frederic Chopin

2010 marks the 200th anniversary of the birth of one of the world’s greatest and much loved classical composers Frederic Chopin.  In many cities across the world this year, there will be recitals and exhibitions to commemorate the life and music of this virtuoso, from afar a field as China all the way back to his home town in Poland and London will be no exception.

As our way of marking this most auspicious occasion, Eclusier Gallery is proud to announce that they will be running a competion.  The ‘Picturing Chopin portrait prize’.

Artists are invited to paint or illustrate an A3 portrait of the composer and submit it via the Eclusier Gallery website  by the 28th of August after which time a shortlist of the 10 best entries, will be selected for exhibition in a prestigious location.

Prize winners will be announced at the end of September.

Prizes

1st Prize – VIP Weekend for 2 in Warsaw

The artist who receives the first prize, will be awarded a weekend for two to Warsaw capital of Poland,Frederic Chopin mother country.  This will include flights, collection from Chopin airport in Warsaw accommodation next to the Royal Palace, dinner, and tickets to Chopin House in Zelazowa Wola and museum.

2nd Prize – Tickets to  classical music concert

Second prize winners will receive tickets to classical music concert and a dinner for two in prestigious restaurant in London

An entry fee of only £10 per image applies to cover running costs of the prize.

We are now pleased to announce the prize winners of the portrait competition of Sir Winston Churchill. A total of 204 entries were judged in this year’s contest. The First Prize winner will receive a cash prize of £ 500, and an image of the painting will be attached to exclusive limited edition copies of the “Winston and Jack“ biography by Celia and John Lee. The Second Prize Winners will receive certificates and a select copy of the “Winston and Jack“ book signed by the authors and a member of the judging panel.

The top seven portraitists will be invited to exhibit their work in the final portrait exhibition taking place later this year at a prestigious location in London (with details coming soon).

All 20 artists adjudged to have submitted the best portraits will all be awarded a certificate.

A huge congratulation and thank you to all who participated in the portrait competition of Sir Winston Churchill.

Following the success of the recently published book, “The Churchills  a Family Portrait,” Barbara Hamilton’s Portrait Academy is pleased to announce the first portrait drawing/painting contest in memory of Sir Winston Churchill. The aim of the competition is to encourage an appreciation of portrait drawing as a worthy element in the history of art, at the same time history in general .

Jest coś dla ducha, jest coś dla ciała; dzisiaj po włosku, potem – inne nacje. Sztuka różnych narodów w oprawie narodowych przysmaków. Dochód wspomoże charytatywny projekt Minerva.

Stoły zastawione jedzeniem. Są dania na ciepło i na zimno; są przekąski i bardziej wyszukane potrawy. Również takie, których próżno szukać w londyńskich restauracjach. Oprócz polskich, cieszą oko specjały kuchni włoskiej.
– Od lat organizuję różne artystyczne wystawy, mam stały kontakt z twórcami z wielu krajów. Niemal codziennie otrzymuję pytania o następne imprezy, stąd pomysł zrobienia czegoś oryginalnego, połączenia pokazu sztuki z degustacją jedzenia. Bo przecież – jeśli się głębiej zastanowić – obie te dziedziny od wieków tworzą kulturalny profil danego narodu – mówi inicjatorka imprezy Magdalena Rutkowska.
Ta mieszkająca od dwudziestu lat w Londynie polska malarka, projektantka oraz realizatorka dźwięku podkreśla, że w sztuce – podobnie jak w kuchni – duży wpływ na końcowy efekt ma klimat oraz warunki ekonomiczno-społeczne w jakich żyjemy. Jedno wypływa z drugiego.

Pod gruzami
To był szok, największa tragedia we Włoszech od trzydziestu lat. Ponad 300 zabitych, kilka tysięcy rannych, 50 tysięcy ludzi bez dachu nad głową. Trzęsienie ziemi w Abruzzo, regionie w centralnych Włoszech, zebrało tragiczne żniwo. Wstrząsy z szóstego kwietnia były tak silne, że część miasteczek całkowicie obróciło się w gruzy.
Epicentrum kataklizmu znajdowało się w rejonie miasta L’Aquila, stolicy regionu. Zniszczone zostały wspaniałe zabytkowe budynki, a szczególnie ucierpiało średniowieczne śródmieście. Pomimo pomocy, jaka napłynęła i ciągle napływa z różnych stron świata, to ciągle kropla w morzu potrzeb – odbudowa zniszczeń potrwa jeszcze wiele lat.
- Po tej tragedii napłynęło do mnie wiele listów mówiących o ludzkich tragediach, ale także o wspaniałej sztuce tego regionu leżącej teraz pod gruzami. Postanowiliśmy działać, by pomóc mieszkańcom L’Aquili w odbudowie ich kulturowego dziedzictwa. Tak zrodził się projekt Minerva – mówi Magdalena Rutkowska, której w realizacji tego przedsięwzięcia od początku pomaga jej francuska przyjaciółka, znana malarka zakotwiczona w Londynie Blandine Martin.

Róża dla królowej
Restauracja The Knaypa, londyńska dzielnica Hammersmith. Coraz więcej ludzi, lokal powoli zapełnia się gośćmi. Przeplatają się różne języki; słychać włoski, grecki, węgierski, polski, angielski… Są dziennikarze Telewizji Polonia, przygotowujący materiał na temat projektu Minerva, są przedstawiciele różnych nacji, są ludzie różnych profesji. Głównie artyści, chociaż nie tylko. Na stołach króluje jedzenie, na ścianach – obrazy.
Jak przyznaje Luisa Cotardo, dzisiejsze spotkanie ma swój specyficzny klimat. – Sztuka, kuchnia, ciekawi ludzie… To wszystko znakomicie się uzupełnia. No i szczytny cel, na który zostaną przeznaczone zebrane fundusze – mówi Luisa, która swego czasu pracowała w ambasadzie włoskiej w Paryżu, a potem zasłynęła jako dziennikarka serią wywiadów ze znanymi ludźmi. W głębi duszy jest jednak artystką, specjalizuje się w tworzeniu róż z masy papierowej metodami starożytnych rzymian. Jeden z takich niecodziennych kwiatów otrzymała brytyjska królowa Elżbieta II na swoje osiemdziesiąte urodziny; można je również zobaczyć przy statuetkach świętych w znanych kościołach w Italii.
- Dzisiaj w Knaypie jest dzień włoski, na dobry początek. W kolejnych tygodniach swoją twórczość i kulinarne specjały – które symbolicznie kosztują po dwa funty, chociaż można płacić według uznania – zaprezentują Brytyjczycy, Węgrzy, Hindusi oraz Polacy – opowiada Blandine Martin, dodając, że udostępniona będzie księga do głosowania na najlepszą pracę oraz najsmaczniejszą potrawę, a artyści, którzy zdobędą najwięcej głosów, zostaną zaproszeni na wspólny, przedświąteczny obiad. Tuż przed Bożym Narodzeniem.

Wenecja, Paryż, Nowy Jork
Teraz Knaypa, a wcześniej Instytut Kultury Włoskiej w Londynie. To tam w czerwcu odbyła się aukcja dzieł sztuki, z której cały dochód został przesłany do L’Aquli na wsparcie odbudowy kościoła Santa Maria del Suffragio. To jeden z najciekawszych historycznych obiektów tego regionu, a – co ciekawe – jedną z jego donatorek jest żona prezydenta Francji Nicolasa Sarkozy’ego, pochodząca z tamtych okolic słynna modelka Carla Bruni.
– Nasza londyńska aukcja zakończyła się dużym sukcesem. W projekt włączyło się wielu znanych artystów spontanicznie ofiarowując swoje prace, czego pokłosiem były propozycje zorganizowania kolejnych imprez. Niebawem podobne przedsięwzięcie planujemy w Wenecji, a potem w Paryżu i Nowym Jorku – opowiada Magdalena Rutkowska i przyznaje, że plany związane z projektem Minerva są znacznie szersze. – Obiektów sztuki potrzebujących wsparcia nie brakuje, wiele takich wspaniałych, często unikatowych zabytków znajduje się w Polsce. Również i je będziemy chcieli wesprzeć.

The presence of Witkacy….
Well well… we have accomplished mission “impossible” – the Witkacy 2009 festival at Westminster University.

So far, from everything I’ve heard from those involved in the event, for some strange reason we are all missing the madness that preoccupied us 24/7!

Personally I am taking my hat off to Kevin for putting together a bunch of such amazing people to work on the project.

Kevin – he was difficult to find but at the same time he managed to be everywhere..

Steve – tried hard (and succeeded!) to keep everyone happy even though, as we all knew, it was very difficult to achive in some cases.

Hard working Marta managed to keep a polite smile on her face all the time.

All of our great actors who had to put up with some rather odd scenography which, btw, was nothing to do with my modern contemporary ideas but a lot to do with budget and health and safety restrictions (well it is an old building..
.).

Still dont really know how Frank become a friend with my bigger enemy “THE SCREEN”
I have to mention my great team of enthusiastic and never complaining artists – mainly Tom and Balint.

I am sure that many world famous theatres would be proud to decorate their walls with the gold phantom masks made by Tom.

Poor Balint never had the opportunity to see the “Mad man and the nun” because he had to stay behind the side stage curtain taking care of sound effects.

There were so many funny moments during the festival.We even had a visit from the ghost at the end..

It was hard work but I think we all miss that.  Personally I miss the crazy atmosphere and everyone who helped to create the maelstrom.

ART. 1 – Goal
The Italian Cultural Association MoCA (Modern Contemporary Art), in cooperation with Arte Laguna, organizes the Third International Art Prize “Arte Laguna”, directed to the promotion and valorization of the contemporary art.
The Prize is organized under the patronage of the Region of Veneto, Province of Veneto, Province of Venice, Municipality of Venice, Municipality of Mogliano Veneto, Venetian Ca’ Foscari University, Cassamarca Foundation of Treviso, Ascom of Treviso and Mogliano Veneto.
The Prize is subdivided in three sections: painting, photographic art, sculpture.

ART. 2 – Eligible media
The Prize is open to all artists, without any limits of age, sex, nationality or other qualification. Each artist can participate with one or two works, at one or more sections. Technical details:
Painting – total technical and stylistic freedom (oil, tempera, acrylic, ink, vinyl, watercolor, graphite, pencil, collage, etc.) on whichever support (canvas, paper, wood, plastics, iron, etc.).

After a few successful exhibitions at Eaton Terrace Gallery it is a time to start preparing ourselves for “Catch2009″. We are taking the project to an exciting Covent Garden location where everything around is about arts and craft: galleries, performing artists, an amazing market with lots of original features and of course delicious ice creams, coffee shops and restaurants. Seems like Covent Garden is never asleep! From the 2 June  for a period of one week we are going to represent a little part of this historic London destination, very popular with tourists and Londoners alike. Some how it does feel sad to leave friendly Eaton Terrace Gallery for  now… I hear from many of our exhibitors that (like myself) they have found the gallery’s atmosphere “homely and warm”, which is definitely expressing the personality of the gallery owners Gordon and Trish Stevenson. They might not necessarily describe themselves as “art specialists” but they are  art lovers which for we artists means so much more than an art critic or dealer…

Well.. those are my reflections on stylish yet welcoming, good “old” Eaton Terrace. It would be nice if any one who exhibited there told us how they felt too. Editorials and other info about exhibitions at Eaton Terrace could be find in Art in London magazine:
